Subject: Agent Manager is hanging for no apparent reason?
Feedback Type: Problem
Product Area: Domino Server
Technical Area: Crash
Platform: Windows 2003 server
Release: 8.5
Reproducible: Intermittent
We have a server on which the Agent Manager intermittently stops responding.
When this happens, all scheduled agents cease to operate, and a quick review of the server tasks using the Admin client shows the Agent Manager "Scanning agent list". As soon as we see that, we know that it has stopped responding.
It will stay that way until we reboot the server. Attempts to shut the Agent Manager task itself down are ineffective - It does not respond at all. The rest of the server tasks continue to operate quite happily, but we need to force a server shutdown manually (it doesn't shut down cleanly) to get the Agent Manager back on track again.
There are many instances of Agent Manager hanging issues throughout the various Lotus forums, but I cannot find one instance related to "Scanning agent list". I cannot even find out what the server is doing when we observe this in the task list?
Has anyone else experienced similar issues?
Can anyone tell me what the server is doing?
I assume it is reviewing the databases to check for scheduled agents, but that's just my guess.
Any assistance you may be able to provide would be much appreciated!
Cheers,
T.
